Episode 11 - A conversation with Dr Shiromi - mental health and when to see a doctor: specific tips for lawyers

In this episode I speak to Dr Shiromi about when lawyers should be seeing a doctor about their wellbeing. We talk about what to do if you think you may have depression and/or anxiety, specific tips for lawyers, and how to foster wellbeing.

This is a really important topic that is close to my heart - as a coach, I'm not qualified to treat mental illness and it is very important for me to be crystal clear about when people should be seeing a coach versus seeking help from a doctor or psychologist.

Dr. Shiromi has been a doctor for 15 years. She obtained her medical degree from Melbourne's Monash University and completed her internship and residency at Alfred Health. After completing her specialist training and becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, she advanced her skills and completed further training in psychological strategies. She is a strong advocate for empowering her patients to stay informed and engaged, paving the way for accelerated progress and better health outcomes. Dr. Shiromi is a leader for change and innovation. She is the Founder and CEO of The Cloud GP. Their signature course is an online, self-directed mental health program that helps patients overcome symptoms of depression and anxiety while they wait to see a psychologist. The Cloud GP has launched their signature program ‘First Steps to Overcoming Depression and Anxiety’ – this is a self-directed online mental health program for people who have been recently diagnosed with depression or anxiety but find themselves facing an extended wait to see a psychology provider.

This program helps people get the ball rolling and start feeling better ASAP. It can be found at www.thecloudgp.com.au/firststeps For those who are planning to see a GP to discuss their mental health and would like to prepare for their appointment The Cloud GP team would like to share a free resource with our listeners. The Mental Health Care Plan Preparation helps you to understand what your GP is likely to ask so you don’t feel like a bunny in the headlights.
